Cutting the floor joists

May 18th 2003: I finally decided to jump in with both feet and start marking up the wood starting with the floor joists. However, trouble at step 1! The sawmill had cut the joists as 13 x 11cm rather than 13 x 10cm! Can you believe it? I think I will have to bodge a few things in the design!

Nice to actually see what size the teahouse will be for the first time!

The next job will be to cut the tenons using the crosscut saw and start on the corner uprights. Boy, isn't green oak heavy!

It's really easy cleaning the tenons with a 1.5" chisel!
